War of the Worlds Hat Rack

4th March 2021 – War of the Worlds Hat Rack

What do you do when you have an old vintage bed head, some fabulous Mint by Michelle decoupage paper, a love of dystopian science fiction, and a spare afternoon?  Well you make a War of the Worlds hat rack of course!

We started by flipping the bed head upside down, and trimming off the rounded end with our jigsaw, then pasting our decoupage paper onto the surface.

Once the decoupage glue was dry, we let our imaginations take over, and handpainted the alien craft and explosions.  We also gave the sky a wash of yellow to further enhance the end of the world atmosphere.

Painted the rest of the bedhead in Graphite, added some old hooks we had lying around, and viola, a hat rack!

Welcome to shed eleven

We’re a creative collaboration between sisters-in-law Jemma Wlasichuk and Fanny Clarsen.

shed eleven transforms and up-cycles furniture that would otherwise be overlooked or destined for landfill.

Our business educates and encourages you to do this yourself via our workshops, selling the eco-friendly Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® and spreading the message on furniture repurposing and upcycling.

From our workshop on Sydney’s upper north shore, we’ve restored hundreds of pieces during our two years in business. Our artistic and technical skills led to us being invited to be the Annie Sloan Painters in Residence in 2018.
