Our clients were after a vintage oriental sideboard, to be re-finished in a hand painted misty mountain vista with a nod to the industrial. After helping them source this beauty, we worked with them to come up with this!

After painting the landscape in a mix of greens, blues and greys, we’ve done multiple washes of white to soften the colours and give the illusion of low mist.

To ground the piece, and give it an industrial look to fit in with our clients interiors, we’ve done the body in a deep Athenian Black finished with Black Wax.

Our clients were thrilled with the result!

Our business educates and encourages you to do this yourself via our workshops, selling the eco-friendly Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® and spreading the message on furniture repurposing and upcycling.

From our workshop on Sydney’s upper north shore, we’ve restored hundreds of pieces during our two years in business. Our artistic and technical skills led to us being invited to be the Annie Sloan Painters in Residence in 2018.

We’ve gone back to our roots on this commission

We’ve gone back to our roots on this commission with a full timber refinish. Our client wanted it darkened with honey tones to compliment her bedside tables. After sanding right back we stained it in Walnut, then finished in a gloss Oil Varnish to bounce some light around. It’s a great trick of the eye when the timber has such natural colour variation. Swipe 👉🏼 for before.

It got us thinking about one of Jemma’s first jobs back in the early 90s at Balmain Strippers (that was a fun one to explain!😆), where she learnt all about stripping and refinishing furniture. The circle of life, eh?

We’ve fallen back in love with this cabinet since we gave the outside a wash of Annie Sloan Old White.

It was on our list to sell, but wow 😍, we now have to do a furniture reshuffle to slot it back in!

Lovely morning workshop helping transform a vintage bed head into a coat rack!

Our client used Annie Sloan Original for a base and added some interest using our hand carved lino to print in Emperors Silk and Arles. Finished with clear and dark wax and some lovely hooks that we salvaged from hard rubbish pick up.

Amazing what you can get done in a few hours 🙂❤️
